If you were stoked about the news that The Flaming Lips will be playing 8 shows during the O Music Awards — breaking the Guinness World Record for the most live shows in 24 hours (multiple city) — get ready to have a full-on pleasure heart attack. We have a whole new passel of performers to announce today, as well as where you can get tickets to take in every single eclectic performance.
For those not in the know, The O Music Awards is MTV, VH1, CMT and LOGO’s newest awards show, celebrating the best in music, technology and the intersection between the two. We’ve had two previous awards shows — one in Las Vegas and one in Los Angeles — but this summer we’re heading to the American South for our biggest event yet. We’ll be taking off across the country in a fully tricked-out bus for a 24-hour, livestreamed adventure through the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll — this will be the world’s first 24-hour livestreamed awards show. We’ve enlisted the aid of The Flaming Lips to complete this endeavor; the band will be overseeing the festivities, as well as breaking a world record currently held by Jay-Z.
